Dear Amelia,

I am delighted to inform you that "The Triumph of Hope," has been nominated for our Publication of the Year Award 2006.

The Erotic Awards is run by a Grand Jury of Conspicuous Sensuality, and is gaining serious recognition and international respect. We began as a small group of enthusiasts and idealists in 1993, to honour people who work in the world of sex and eroticism, and our work is as meaningful and necessary today as it was then. We pluck excellence from the sometimes hard, soul-less commercial world, and seek out lone artists and pioneers. Emphasis is on sharing creativity rather than serious competition, and we encourage networking so that cross-pollination and inspiration can flourish.

Additionally, the Erotic Awards raise funds for Outsiders, a unique members’ club, that provides the backup for disabled people to make new friends and find sexual partners. Outsiders is engaged in many projects including the V-Group for disabled women with sexual problems, and the national Sex and Disability Helpline. In 2004, Outsiders celebrated its 25th anniversary, and this longevity is thanks to our fundraising efforts. The Erotic Awards also encourages disabled people to participate as performers, volunteers and guests.

The Erotic Awards help to run the Sexual Freedom Conference in London where finalists from the past and present are given an opportunity to talk about their work. This year's conference will be called RIOTOUS PLEASURES – PRESERVING OUR SEXUAL FREEDOMS and it will take place on Saturday 6th May at the Toynbee Hall, 28 Commercial Street, London E1.

This year the Erotic Awards are also planning a London Erotic Film Festival.

The Erotic Awards has 12 categories, including artist, fashion designer, film-maker and campaigner, to writer and sex worker. You can view our past finalists on our website.

Once you have read about our work, please can you get back to me to confirm that you support our ethos and would be happy to be involved by accepting your nomination.

In order for the judges to make nomination decisions, we need samples of the publications, together with any supporting literature you may like to send us, such as author's backgrounds, publishing philosophy, and any press or media coverage.

Please send your submission by 21st April. Judging takes place in stages and the finalists are selected at the beginning of May.

The performance nominees are featured in our live SHOWCASE event on Wednesday 24th May in The Clapham Grand, and finalists of this category are then featured at the NIGHT OF THE SENSES Show on 2nd September. Finalists are also featured in an Exhibition at the Ball (see www.nightofthesenses.com). This Exhibition is previewed in a London gallery during the month of August. It is also featured permanently on our website, with contact details.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Very best wishes,

Dr Tuppy Owens
Director
