WARNING
AND DISCLAIMER
These
pages are designed to be mood-changing
to
help you to gain awareness of your own inner processes
in just the same way as you would in a face-to face
counselling environment.
However,
since we are not face to face, I cannot accept any
responsibility for your reactions to my suggestions.
I am assuming throughout that I am dealing with
ordinary, neurotic people like myself and not with
people with recognised psychiatric pathology which
am not qualified to address, nor is that my purpose.
But if you want to talk to me about your reactions,
please
email me .
This book is my own symbolic reclamation of power,
my affirmation of the right to do things my own
way.
You may be dismayed to find uncouth four-letter
words in this book. They are not words I use in
my daily life. They are contained in quotations
designed not to offend, but to rivet attention.
When I first heard them used in therapy they were
not comfortable, but they were difficult to forget.
I am not a distant expert, a perfected being, preaching
from the ramparts of my excellence. I am a simple,
struggling, scarred individual like yourself, except
that I have been on my journey longer and have been
fortunate enough to meet certain teachers and learn
certain techniques which I pass on to you here,
not as an impersonal manual of instructions but
as an admission and a thank you. I have been there.
The people from whom I have learned have also been
there. They include my clients, all of whom brought
something precious to our interaction. All of them
deserved to be happy. They cared about others and
I care about you, all of you.
I should like to hear about you, especially if
you feel strongly about this book. I should like
to know if you feel it has been of help. In particular,
I would love to hear if you feel your own experiences
could be of help to someone else.
