MIRROR VISUALISATION.
The most effective way to use this visualisation is to read it slowly onto a tape recorder and then listen to the tape when you can be undisturbed.
You could also work with a trusted friend, taking turns to read the visualisation slowly whilst the other relaxes, listens and follows the instructions.
Use it as often as you wish. Each time, you will discover something new and feel better about yourself. You should allow half an hour for each session.
Sit or lie down comfortably. Gently close your eyes.
Concentrate on awareness of your breathing.
Be aware of breathing in energy and light and breathing out depression and pain.
Be assured
that a that any time you can leave this
visualisation, instantly alert to cope with any
emergency.
Picture to yourself the colour red.
Imagine something red, a rose or a letter box. Fill your mind with the colour red.
Now use
the colour orange, picture something
orange and fill your mind with the colour orange.
Now use the colour yellow, picture something yellow and fill your mind with the colour yellow.
Use the
colour green, picture something green and
fill your mind with the colour green.\
Now use the colour blue, picture something blue and fill your mind with the colour blue.\
Use the colour violet, picture something violet and fill your mind with the colour violet.
Now picture
ultra-violet, imagine the invisible colour of deep space. Surround yourself
with the
fluorescent, healing radiation of ultra-violet.....

Now you
are a child, somewhere between six and
ten years old.
You are
standing at the top of a flight
of stairs.
Begin to
walk down the stairs, one step at
a time. At each step your body will feel heavier and
heavier.Take a step down, and feel your body becoming heavy.
Take another step and feel yourself growing heavier.Take another step, and feel your body, heavier.. and heavier.......
Take another
step... Feel yourself becoming
heavier... going deeper... step by step... by step....by step....
Now you are standing in a passageway...
.... at the end of the passageway is a door...
When you
open the door, you will be on a familiar,
childhood street. Open the door... and step out into
the street....
What can you see?
What is the weather like?
What can you smell?
What can
you hear?
Now you are walking towards your own home.
How do you
walk? Do you trudge, or do you skip? How do you feel? Does anything
worry you
Does anything pleaseyou?
Who will there be at home?
Open the door and walk into your home.
There is no-one there. You can walk through the rooms until you come to a room where there is a full-length mirror.
Walk up
to the mirror and look into it. You see
yourself as a child. What are you wearing?
How do you look?
Touch your hair and your skin. How do they feel?
What do you like doing? Who are your
friends? Have you any brothers or sisters?
Who are you thinking about?
What are
your parents like? Your mother?
Your father? What is it like to live with them?
What do they like about you?What do they
dislike about you?
Do you have
any secrets?
What makes you angry? What makes you hurt?
What would you like to change about your life?
Now you hear someone else in the house. Who
could it be? Steps approach the room where
you are. How do you feel?
As you stand
in front of the mirror, someone else
enters the room.
It is the adult you.
Stay as
the little you and look at your big self, behind you in the
mirror. Look carefully. What do you see?
What do you think of this person?
Now be
your big self, walking towards the child until
you are standing side by side, looking in the mirror.
What do you see? What do you think of this
child?
Do you
recognise each other? Do you understand each other? Do you trust each
other? Do you like each other? Do you accept each other?
Do you approve of each other? Would you ever hurt each other? Do you think you could really love each other
Make contact
in any way you wish. You can touch or
hold hands... Perhaps you want to hug each other...
How do you feel?
Is there
anything special you want to say to one
another? Now is your chance. You can say
anything you wish. This person will understand you
better than anyone else in the world... This person
will accept you, just as you are.... This person will
forgive all your mistakes. This person will love you,
truly, deeply and without conditions.
Lean against
each other. ....put your arms around
each other , if you wish. Watch in the mirror as you
both melt together into the person... you... really
...are.
Now..... Come back into the present, both together.
Be aware
of your body. Be aware of your breathing.
Be aware of any noises in the room. Be aware that
you are beginning to feel good. Feel your mouth
lifting in a smile......
Now.....
Count slowly backwards from ten to one. When you
reach one, you will open your eyes. You will be
awake, alert, happy and fully alive.
The best
results can be obtained from this
visualisation if you can discuss the stages with
someone else, telling them what you saw and what
you felt. Or you can write down what happened.....or email me.
You will
gain more insights each time you think over
what you experienced, and each time you repeat the
visualisation. New memories will return and new
links will be made until you will be able to see
yourself clearly and be aware of the sources of your
pain and the ability to comfort yourself.
You will
be able to accept yourself with respect,
understanding and renewed love. You will be able to recognise yourself as a
person of
strength, of ability and of unique worth.
